Yes we should use film study as a literacy component in our classroom. However we should not over do it. I believe a film could draw out different perspectives or could be used in comparison with a written work. For example, using Tuck Everlasting the book and film side by side could draw out comparisons and similarities. The students could do charts of which elements were focused on in greater detail by both works.
Summary: The clip we watched as a class from the Korean film Spring Summer Fall Winter, shows a young boy who learns a moral lesson through having his own actions put back on him by his Teacher. Empathy is learned through this clip as he begins to understand the consequences of his actions, while in the beginning they seemed so simple and harmless, but resulted in unchanging effects.
