Coyote and the Pebble
Panel: The panels are medium in size, ranging from three to four per page.
Gutter: The gutters are very thin so they do not take away from the panels.
Bubbles: For the speaking protagonist they have speaking bubbles, however if the person is not represented by an object their bubble is jagged and looks different then the other bubbles. When the author is trying to tell the audience information but not using the characters, it is placed in a square bubble.
Art: The art is great, it uses earth tones in each drawing, and is very detailed.
Strategies: This work made a connection to letting go of the past and looking forward instead. I related this to issues such as residential school, but you could link it to many of Canada's tragic moments in history. It would be useful in a social studies context, and also as an individual learning moment, because some things happen that when we wanted a different path to get to that outcome.
