This chapter gives insight into the many different aspects the written word can reach. It breaks it up into different themes because literature is different to everyone. It can be cannon or Myths, however you look at it, it will be what you need it to be.
Theme: Canadian Fiction, Canadian readers
American or Canadian Literature, that is the question? Studies have shown there is more knowledge in American Literature, than in our own. Reading Canada is targeted to bridge this lack of knowledge giving us an awareness of our own nations great contributions to the Literary field.
Literary work: On Thin Ice, by Jamie Bastedo
This novel deals with a young Aboriginal women who is a tech savvy, and takes after her tech savvy father. This novel takes place in the Yukon. I would use this work because I have an invested awareness in FNMI content and believe by using it, it would allow others to see a different perspective of real Aboriginal issues.
